I bought a SD-206 Panasonic in 2000 and it worked well for more than 10 years producing at least 4 loafs a week. I had to replace it and so bought the newer SD-255 thinking it would just as good. It is so bad I am now replacing it after only 1 year. The bread does not rise, it is heavy, it sticks to the pan the paddle sticks in the bread, I have had to throw away so much that I have had enough and will certainly not buy Panasonic again as I do not trust them. I am quite sad about this as my old machine was so good and this one is so bad.

Was very pleased with my machine which was bought new January 2010. Used twice weekly for a variety of bread loafs. Last week programmer decided to stop working and is now fixed on basic bake XL. Touch pad controls will not accept any new programming. Very disappointing.

I have just bought the panasonic SD 254 and find it very impressive. I’ve made a variety of breads and all have turned out great. Waking up to the gorgeous aroma of baking bread is a delight. The appliance is easy to use and easy to clean. I really would recommend this appliance to friends and family.

It may boast all these programme features but as an engineer my criticism is that the bits don’t fit that well. It’s no wonder Chrissie has had problems with paddle because the spindle/paddle fit is rubbish. The actual Bake Pan itself doesn’t lock securely into the base leaving so much free play that this would soon accumulate wear problems. Don’t buy, there are better made bread machines out there.

I have just bought the Panasonic SD 255 Breadmaker and every loaf I have made (three so far) sticks in the pan and also have to dig the paddle out. Should I grease the pan or what should I do, feel very disappointed with the appliance. I have copied the recipes exactly as described in the booklet supplied by Panasonic.

I expected much more from panasonic – especially if they say sd-254 has 17 programmes. Most of its loafs are still delicious but cake function is useless as you have to mix ingredients manually. Measurements need to be really presice as slight variations make bread too heavy or stink yeast. It does not have jam function which is present in even cheaper models of other makes.
